Whilst many people opt for traditional, muted coloured front doors, others are increasingly painting their doors in bolder, more eye-catching shades. At the beginning of the year Pantone released their top ten door colours list, based on recent sales of products. Within this were many vibrant colours as well as a few conventional ones.
Topping the list of most popular colours was mid-purple. This bright shade of purple was not the only one to feature in the 2018 rankings though. Also rated highly at number three was light violet, a more toned down pastel shade than its mid-purple counterpart.
Blue was also a popular front door colour this year, with three different types making it into the top ten. As well as steel blue featuring in the second place spot, the striking shade of cobalt blue was placed number eight. The ever popular interior colour of duck egg blue also made an appearance at number ten in the list, a more subtle shade than cobalt.
Other vibrant colours on the list were bright yellow (number six) and cobalt yellow (number nine). The remaining three top door colours were all more conventional choices. Black was rated as number four, crisp white as number five and grey as number seven. This shows that whilst bright colours may be the most popular choice for some, more traditional shades don’t look to be disappearing from front doors anytime soon.
