Home décor is something that can never really be complete. Even with an interior designer adding those finishing touches for you, or a living room full of personality from family photographs, heirlooms and sentimental pieces, it’s hard to resist the latest interior design trends. But trends are fickle and sometimes what we think is trendy might actually look dated. We explore the trends that might be on their way out in 2018.
Copper
Homeware departments are still loving the copper trend but it may be time for the shiny metal to reach its peak. Copper was everywhere last year and continues to dominate interior design, but overloading your home with copper everything is probably going to give the opposite effect of the classy, stylish look you were going for.
Grey
While cool tones are still popular in many homes, 2018 has already seen more people starting to experiment with colour with deeper shades like navy blue and emerald green also emerging in some interior design trends.
Chevron
A popular pattern last year, chevron was on everything from our wallpaper to our lampshades, but it seems to be losing its appeal. If you’re not ready to let go just yet, have a look around for varying alternative to the classic zigzag pattern such as herringbone.
Open plan
This one is tricky to call but some interior design professionals would argue that lifestyles are changing from open family spaces to closed off interiors and traditional dinner table entertaining. Whichever style of living you prefer, choosing the right interior doors will transform your space.
