As we head into Spring and many homeowners are dedicating weekends to DIY and home improvements, some interior design colour trends for 2019 are emerging.
2018 was all about deeper shades such as greys and charcoals and dark wood finishes like walnut, but more colours will be the focus of interior design in 2019. With the Pantone Colour of the Year announced as Living Coral, we’re embracing colour this year.
Earthy tones
Bright colours aren’t for everyone, but that doesn’t mean you have to stick to magnolia either. Earthy tones like olive and terracotta are a popular choice for walls, or try keeping clean white walls and opting for natural hues in your soft furnishings or décor.
Vibrant pops of colour
Pantone’s Living Coral might be too bright for some tastes, but it does still bring a natural feel to our homes with its tropical ocean vibes. Splashes of colour like coral pink, turquoise and citrus tones like lime and orange can add the feel of nature whilst still sticking to a vibrant colour palette.
Subtle shades
In contrast to vibrancy, paler colour palettes are also an interior trend for 2019. Think muted greys, creams and washed out blues and greens.
Jewel tones
From wallpaper and paint to your décor and furniture, jewel tones are set to be a big hit this year. Expect to see sapphire blues, ruby reds and emerald greens making an appearance. Flashes of amethyst and topaz will also be popular in our homes.
If you’re thinking about giving your home a makeover, now is definitively the time to explore colours and textures. You don’t have to go all out with the paint roller to make your interiors feel brand new. Changing up your décor or refreshing your interior fittings such as your interior doors is can give your home a whole new look.
